Compare Hospital Prices by Insurance Company

Every hospital in the US is required to publish the rates it has negotiated with each insurance company. These "negotiated rates" are the amounts insurers have agreed to pay for specific services. They are published in machine-readable files as part of the CMS Hospital Price Transparency Rule (45 CFR Part 180).

We download these files, extract the negotiated rates for common procedures, and present them so you can compare what different insurers pay at different hospitals. The same procedure can cost dramatically different amounts depending on your insurer and which hospital you visit.

Important: A negotiated rate is not the same as your out-of-pocket cost. Your actual cost depends on your plan's deductible, copay, and coinsurance. If you have not met your annual deductible, you may owe the full negotiated rate for a service.
